The Lyceum School provides an exciting and challenging curriculum for children from 3 to 11 years old. Through inspiring teaching by well-qualified professionals who are passionate about what they do, our children gain a love of learning, a thirst for sport and an appreciation of the arts. As a result of the broad and balanced education we provide, our children develop into confident, resilient and compassionate young people. The feedback from the senior school interviews is a testament to this as they say the Lyceum children show a mature outlook and they have the capacity to express themselves eloquently.
Based in the heart of Shoreditch and a stone’s throw from Old Street and Liverpool Street stations, we have a wealth of resources right on our doorstep that we regularly take advantage of. Be it lessons in local museums, tours of the Royal Parks or trips to London’s theatres – we aim to afford all of our students the very best experiences and hands-on education.
We promote a non-denominational Christian ethos, welcoming those of all faiths and of none. Our weekly assemblies celebrate the religious festivals from around the world and our charity work supports a school in Africa that was set up for orphaned children; our pupils are encouraged to have a global outlook and to care for those less fortunate than themselves.

The curriculum offered takes the best from the National Curriculum, covers the syllabus required for independent schools entrance exams, provides a strong emphasis on the arts, and develops a strong work ethic emphasising independent learning skills. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. All children are offered appropriate teaching for preparation for entrance examinations at 11+, including tuition in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, examination techniques and interview techniques.
We believe in enriching the learning experiences of our pupils and our curriculum is supported by a full programme of educational trips and visits, whether locally, nationally or internationally. We also offer a programme of clubs which complement the lessons that take place in the timetable. In this way we aim, as a school, to develop the whole child and give pupils access to a range of sporting, creative and academic pursuits.
All pupils benefit from an excellent pastoral network, designed to give them guidance and support as they journey through the school. The moment a child enters The Lyceum, they are cared for by their class teacher. The class teacher is responsible for each pupil’s pastoral care and emotional well-being, and they are the first line of communication with parents and carers. Through our small class sizes, we are able to tailor our pastoral provision so that it perfectly meets the needs of every child.
